Making Cheese in Thailand
Cheese is not a popular dish in Thailand for Thai’s. It’s mostly one of those “Farang” foods that cost a lot more then they do back home. Cheese especially is expensive and sometimes not very good. Very rarely is the cheese made here in Thailand, but imported. So what can you do? Make your cheese yourself with the cheese making supplies Thailand.

Making cheese is easy. Finding the supplies you need is the hard part. Some common ingredients to make cheese is rennet, mesophilic culture, citric acid, calcium chloride, and a few other things.
For hard cheese, you need a press and molds. Both of these can be hand made using PVC piping and a few pieces of wood. You can check around the internet with a good of “DIY Cheese Press” or similar search terms.
Another trick is to use a bit of a store bought cheese to culture the cheese you want. For example, a small bit of blue cheese you get from the store can be blended with 1/4 cup of water and added as culture to your cheese to make a 2-3kg wheel of blue cheese. And it’ll be much better than what you bought at the store.
Milk in Thailand
Because of laws in Thailand covering Milk, the store milk you get will make a few types of cheeses but not many. As a general rule, any cheese you make that doesn’t need rennet, can be made with store bought milk.
If you live in Northern Thailand, you can easily find a dairy farm to get fresh, or even raw milk. The further south you go, the less your chances are to find this. In the south, you can find goat milk farms fairly easily in your area.
